Add More Gestures To Your Magic Mouse With BetterTouchTool

Got your Magic Mouse yet? Time to bring out the full potential of that magical device.

bettertouchtool thumb Add More Gestures To Your Magic Mouse With BetterTouchToolToday I want to share with you this great utility app – BetterTouchTool, a FREE and extremely flexible utility to extend the number of gestures you can have on the Macbook / Pro (multi touch enabled) and the latest & greatest Magic Mouse.

The latest update packs even more punch to what was already a great utility! This app doesn’t really have a product site or a proper logo, but the functionality trumps either of that. If you have a Macbook / Pro or the Magic Mouse, this app is certainly worth your time.

The Interface

This is the meat of the app, where you can set more gestures for your Magic Mouse or Multi Touch Trackpad. As you can see from the above screenshot, I have already set a couple of my custom gestures.

The interface of this preference window had just recently been revamped for better usability.

Setting Gestures

Here’s all you need to do to add and set gestures:

  1. Click ‘+ Add new gesture’
  2. Choose a gesture below (bottom left)
  3. Select whether you want to use a modifier key to use with the gesture (extreme bottom left)
  4. Choose a keyboard shortcut or a predefined action when performing the gesture

As you can see from the left screenshot, there are many gestures for you to select from. No matter what your preference is, there is an option.

Using this tool makes me feel like I am using a multi-touch trackpad but with the comfort of a point and click mouse.

Conclusion

There are many other settings that you can set, like tap pressure etc, but I’m not going to dwell into those.

I recommend anyone with a Magic Mouse to give this tool a spin!
